SCHOOLING AT FAIR OAK CROSS COUNTRY COURSE UNDER COVID
The Good news is we can now reopen our cross country course as of this Saturday 16th May.
The use of the course is subject to all participants following the Government guidelines applicable at the time of use and in conjunction with the BEF guidelines as agreed with the government departments.
The full BEF guidelines are set out below with a link to their webpage.
If the rules are followed then the risk of catching or passing on Covid-19 can be kept very small, the course is set in 60 acres of land so social distancing is not an issue.
On arrival all vehicles should park with distance from other users.
Parking -. Lorries must be the following distances apart: a) 10m apart if allowing tying up of horses on both sides b) 5m apart if allowing tying up of horses on one side c) 3m apart as the minimum allowed, and with no tying up of horses permitted
Users do not need to come to the house to sign in as acceptance of our terms and conditions was done when you booked online, the terms are set out again at the bottom of this assessment.
Riders and Support to bring their own PPE – Mask, Gloves and Hand Sanitiser. For use in situations where social distancing is not possible (retrieving injured or loose horse, for example).
In most cases the course use is limited to around 10 riders per two hour slots and where larger numbers are expected such as Pony Club and Riding Club rallies and camps then it is the requirement of the organisers to make sure that the BEF guidelines on the number in each group are followed and social distancing is followed. If other users are booked in on the same day as rallies then they will be asked to park in a separate area of the front park and to also keep their distance.
Please note at this time the toilet facilities will not be available.
Where the toilet facilities are provided for rallies then the organisers are responsible for any additional Covid19 prevention guidelines being followed. Laundered towels, toilet paper and hand sanitisers will be provided at the outset and the facilities will be cleaned at the end of the booking but any intermediate requirements are down to the organisers of the event.
If Show-Jumps are used then strict protocols should be used for the handling of the poles, where possible only one person should be used for the moving of the poles and they should wear gloves, hand sanitiser is provided at the entrance . At the end of any session all the poles and cups must be put up and the poles left at 80 -90cm for the next person.
Where a booking was made online then Please put a copy of your booking in the windscreen of your lorry so it can be clearly seen.
WHAT TO DO IN AN EMERGENCY
Following a nasty fall a few years ago requiring an air ambulance (the rider fully recovered), we think that it is important that we all learn from the experience.
- People schooling must be accompanied by at least one adult who should have a mobile phone on them in case of an emergency.
- If you need to call an ambulance dial 999 and explain what the problem is and state that you are at Fair Oak Cross Country Course Habyn Hill Rogate Near Midhurst. GU31 5HR. Our Grid Reference is SU813 226,
If the operator asks you for a reference using the app WHAT3WORDS then the answer for half way up our drive is decisions.sharpened.assumed
- Call us on 01730 821508 or Piers on 07836 220385 or Elizabeth on 07747 618795 to alert us of the problem and the exact location. We cannot guarantee you that the phone will be manned but generally there is someone around.
- If there is a spare person they should go to the bottom of the drive to show the ambulance the way in and where the injured party is. This is particularly important if the injury has taken place in the back or bottom field.
- Try to stay calm and give clear instructions of the situation and your location it can save valuable time.
